Origin
Distant relatives of Spitz are Eskimo dogs and Samoyed huskies. The original homeland of the Spitz dog breed is Northern Europe, Germany, the province of Pomerania, after which the breed got its name. In the 18th century Spitz ended up in England, as evidenced by the letters of the crowned heads of the English court. In the 19th century These dogs were brought to North America. Here, in the process of participating in dog shows, spitz were singled out in a separate group.
